Manufacturing and Supply Chain Orchestration in the age of AI

John McNiff

This presentation explores the global trends, opportunities, and challenges of applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) in industrial sectors, with a focus on both regional and the international landscape. We will examine how AI is reshaping manufacturing, planning, logistics, maintenance, and sustainability initiatives, and what strategic steps industrial companies must take to successfully integrate AI technologies across the end-to-end supply chain, for the purposes of driving productivity, resilience and autonomy for industrial companies. Key enablers such as data infrastructure, workforce upskilling, and cross-sector collaboration will be discussed, and what SAP is proposing to alleviate the complexity. The session will highlight practical areas where AI can deliver value, from predictive maintenance and process optimization to autonomy in the decision making of supply chain management and sustainability, offering a roadmap for companies looking to stay competitive in the age of intelligent industry.

Future Forward – get ready for AI powered Model-Based Systems Engineering in developing the Complex Industrial Solutions

Olivier Sappin

Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices, traditionally used by Systems Architects during the conceptual phase of complex products in the Aerospace & Defence industry, are now gaining significant momentum across multiple industries, like Automotive, Infrastructure, Healthcare and across the entire lifecycle of products & services, from mission engineering to operation & support. MBSE is emerging as a pivotal enabler for end-to-end processes, spanning architecture, hardware and software integration, to virtual testing and validation. The integration of electrical & electronics, safety, and cybersecurity domains into a unified & consistent model-based approach is becoming increasingly crucial to deliver smarter & safer End Users Experiences. Emerging technologies, such as generative Artificial Intelligence leveraging large language models, and new modelling languages, like SysML V2 are also gaining a lot of attention. How will they accelerate the adoption of MBSE practices?

Network & Security: Best Practice Recommendations for Factory and Machine Network Design

Jiunn-Jer Sun

Cybersecurity has become law and is no longer an option for factory owners and machine builders. The security of a production site or a machine fundamentally relies on its network design. The presentation will reveal the common defects in network design that you should avoid, highlight the key requirements from industrial security standard IEC62443, and give you best practice recommendations taking account of network segmentation, multi-layered defence, and secure remote access.
