Industry 4.0: Future Forward!

1. ABOUT

„Making Industry 4.0 Real“ 2024

In order to increase the efficiency and productivity of the industrial sector and to promote the use of digital technologies in manufacturing, the annual conference “Making Industry 4.0 Real” has been organised in Lithuania since 2016, addressing the topics of the fourth industrial revolution. The conference brings Lithuanian business, academia and the public sector up to date on the latest trends in the digitalisation of industry and showcases best practices and companies that have improved their performance thanks to the application of new technologies.

The conference is aimed at:

1320950393-compressed

The concept of the 9th Conference is broadened beyond the local challenges of industrial transformation to address some of the key priorities of the European political agenda, such as the twin green and digital transition and how sustainable digital technologies could enable a carbon-neutral EU by 2050.. In today’s geopolitical context, the aspect of defence technologies and overall global economic and manufacturing trends is also crucial to consider.

The panel discussion is invitining to take a look at the most advanced technologies of the future and to consider – is Lithuania ready for the next generation, the Industry 5.0 era? These insights are shared in the key part of the conference and the panel discussion by representatives from the European Commission, global technology corporations and leaders of Lithuanian industry and public sector.

The second part of the conference introduces examples and experiences in manufacturing and technological transformation in areas such as manufacturing efficiency and competitiveness in the international market, supply chain management, security, data protection, etc.

The conference is organised by the Engineering and Technology Industries Association of Lithuania LINPRA, the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce (AHK) and the DigiTech Association INFOBALT.

Risks and threats for Industry 4.0 - How to protect the future of the RF Communication and Navigation based Ecosystem

Sabine von der Recke

Industry 4.0 is strongly depended on radio-frequency (RF) based communication and navigation services, and this dependency will even raise in the midterm future. Some examples are 5G/6G infrastructure, IoT/M2M networks (e.g. for precision farming, safety of infrastructure), supply chain management or autonomous driving (GNSS/PNT based) for container movers or the car of the future. The current RF environment is more and more often compromised by intentional and unintentional disturbers (incl. spoofers), especially in the area of BalticSea and Europe’s east flank. The presentation will show which counteractions should be done to protect the industrial and institutional ecosystem in the future, and which parts can be solved in cooperation of (ground based and space based) technical systems and stakeholders (European and local ones).

Future Forward – get ready for AI powered Model-Based Systems Engineering in developing the Complex Industrial Solutions

Olivier Sappin

Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices, traditionally used by Systems Architects during the conceptual phase of complex products in the Aerospace & Defence industry, are now gaining significant momentum across multiple industries, like Automotive, Infrastructure, Healthcare and across the entire lifecycle of products & services, from mission engineering to operation & support. MBSE is emerging as a pivotal enabler for end-to-end processes, spanning architecture, hardware and software integration, to virtual testing and validation. The integration of electrical & electronics, safety, and cybersecurity domains into a unified & consistent model-based approach is becoming increasingly crucial to deliver smarter & safer End Users Experiences. Emerging technologies, such as generative Artificial Intelligence leveraging large language models, and new modelling languages, like SysML V2 are also gaining a lot of attention. How will they accelerate the adoption of MBSE practices?
